LIMBANG: The government is committed to providing faster internet connectivity in Sarawak by building various related infrastructures, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said these efforts are important to ensure the success of the state’s digital economy and to face global competition.
“Therefore, I urged all educators in Sarawak to always be ready to accept the changes and shift their respective paradigms in line with current global demands.
“This is because teachers have a vital role to foster awareness and understanding among students and the community about the importance and benefits of the government’s efforts,” he said in his speech during the 51th State Level Teacher’s Day Celebration 2022 at Hotel Purnama here yesterday.
He said all efforts carried out in Sarawak are a big agenda that will change the fate and future of the people of various races, especially the rural communities.
“Success depends a lot on the understanding and participation of the people, especially the young generation, through the guidance and facilitation of the teachers.
“This is an initiative for them and its success certainly does not depend only on the government.
“This is where we really hope the teachers together with the state government through the Sarawak Foundation and Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD) will extend support as long as they are able to develop the potential of Sarawak’s children and further guarantee the generation that will enjoy the survival progress and well-being of Sarawak,” he added.
Meanwhile, Abang Johari said that teachers are the prime mover in the development of human capital.
Because of that, the Sarawak government really needs solid support from teachers to build the ability and competence of students to become a cyber and cognitive power in the state.
“Sarawak needs this ability to raise dignity and honour and move the state a step towards the goal so that Sarawak with its 2.8 million people can progress by 2030,” he said.
He said in the process of facing challenging competition and continuing to grow rapidly, teachers must always be ready to accept changes and be able to facilitate the students.
“It is to develop interests, talents, abilities and the ability of students to develop critical and creative thinking so that they can adapt to the current changes in the world,” he said.
