ALOR SETAR, Kedah: The Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) aims to develop 5,000 entrepreneurs from among farmers and their children this year, ensuring that each entrepreneur earns a net income of at least RM5,000 per month.

LPP Chairman, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, said this initiative seeks to inspire farmers, particularly young entrepreneurs, so that they recognise the vast opportunities and potential within the agricultural sector.

“LPP has been able to produce several entrepreneurs from among successful farmers, and this time, we have set a target of 5,000 entrepreneurs.

“Furthermore, the income in the agricultural sector today is very good.

“So, the unemployed graduates should take this opportunity,” he told reporters after breaking fast with the media here last night.

He said there are several aids and grants provided by LPP to assist entrepreneurs, as well as increase production capacity and strengthen economic projects in the agricultural sector.

“For grants, we have the Agriprentice Grant where RM20,000 is given to each successful applicant.

“It focuses on agricultural production, services, marketing and skills improvement, and the Young Agropreneur Grant (GAM).

“GAM provides grants of between RM30,000 and RM50,000.

“It targets young entrepreneurs involved in the crop, livestock, fisheries and agro-based industries sectors with assistance value between RM30,000 and RM50,000.

“But the condition to get this grant assistance is that the applicant has to be a (LPP) member.

“Many facilities are provided to ensure that farmers and their children can be further empowered,” he said. – BERNAMA
