SIBURAN: In Kg Padang Siburan, an elderly woman named Rosnah @ Sabong Abdullah, 74, is blessed with a family that showers her with care and affection, despite facing numerous challenges.

Rosnah, who suffers from multiple health issues, including kidney failure, hypertension and solitary osteochrondoma, has been bedridden since 2019. Although she cannot speak, she remains lucid and responsive when communicated with.

Due to her condition, she can only consume liquid food, such as milk or porridge. She lives with her daughter and her disabled grandson, Firdaus, 21.

Firdaus, who has a learning disability and cannot speak, takes on the role of caregiver, ensuring his grandmother’s comfort by providing water, blankets and attending to her needs. He is especially attentive during her baths, using a warm, damp cloth to gently clean her face, neck, arms and legs.

Siti, Rosnah’s daughter, constantly worries about her mother’s condition and her only child. She rushes home immediately after finishing her work shift to be with them.

Hope Place, an organisation dedicated to helping those in need, recently visited the family and provided them with supplies of adult diapers, special milk supplements, and food aid. They also plan to assist Rosnah in applying for social welfare aid.

Siti expressed her gratitude for the one-off assistance her mother received from Baitulmal not long ago.
