KUCHING: The Sarawak government, through the Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Ministry, remains committed to tackling drug issues more effectively.
Its Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, emphasised that the ministry remains dedicated to finding ways to combat drug issues.
“Drugs are a massive and difficult industry to confront, but there are prospects that had succeeded and recovered,” she said, referring to the Low Income Family Empowerment (LIFE) initiative.
She said this in her speech during the closing ceremony of the Drug Rehabilitation Committee Empowerment Seminar (JKPD) & One Stop Committee (OSC) MIDS District 2025 held at Imperial Hotel here today.
However, she noted that the challenges in reducing drug issues are becoming increasingly difficult, but these challenges have strengthened the collaboration between JKPD and OSC MIDS.
“We will face this with full spirit, just like a family working together to reduce drug issues,” she said.
Looking at the challenges faced, Fatimah said that a family ecosystem must be established to help prospects change their lifestyle.
“This is because the family ecosystem not only focuses on the prospects but also on their families.
“We want an ecosystem where the family members of the prospects also provide support, along with the community, in the form of assistance with equipment or capital aid to start businesses as a new path for the prospects,” she explained.
