MIRI: Three incidents of fallen trees were reported today (Dec 22) in Natu Niah after strong winds and heavy rain swept through the area from Saturday night.
Firefighters from the Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to all three affected locations to cut down and remove the debris.
At the JKR Bekenu Depot, one of the affected sites, a car collided with a fallen tree early Sunday morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred at approximately 7.24 am.
Less than three hours later, firefighters were called to Batu Niah town after being alerted to another fallen tree.
Earlier in the morning, the same team had attended to an incident at the Sepupok Sub-District Office where a fallen tree blocked the entrance to the premises.
Firefighters successfully cleared all locations, ensuring the affected areas were safe.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant as adverse weather conditions persist.
