KUCHING: Carus Sports Championship (CSE) aims to attract tourists to Sarawak after the Covid-19 pandemic by holding international extreme running competitions.
CSE chief executive officer Carter Wei said they had a good partnership with the International Spartan Championships.
“We will do our best to promote Sarawak internationally. After the pandemic, there are definitely many who want to start travelling abroad.
“We want to hold an international tournament or event to attract tourists to Sarawak and revive the tourism industry,” he told Suara Sarawak and New Sarawak Tribune via Zoom on Friday (June 11).
He revealed that the Borneo Trail Classic (BTC), which will be held at Kubah National Park on Oct 16 and 17, would promote the beauty of Sarawak.
“BTC is the toughest running route in Southeast Asia. This will definitely attract more tough runners.
“However, this tournament is quite limited because it is difficult for competitors to come to Sarawak because the country is still under the movement control order. Runners will come from Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia, among others.”
He assured that the race would follow strict standard operating procedure guidelines set by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.
