KUCHING: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued a continuous heavy rain warning for several regions in Sarawak, including Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, and Bintulu.
The weather conditions are expected to persist until Sunday (Dec 22), raising concerns for potential flooding and disruptions.
The department has also issued an alert warning for certain areas in Sarawak, including Kapit (Song and Kapit), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi), and Limbang.
Residents in these regions are advised to remain vigilant as the heavy rain continues.
In addition to Sarawak, Sabah is also under alert, with heavy rainfall expected to affect the interior areas of Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau, and Tambunan, as well as the west coast and Sandakan regions, including Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, and Sandakan.
The Federal Territory of Labuan area is also under the same warning.
Authorities are urging the public to stay updated on weather reports and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
