KUCHING: For the first time ever, Kuching residents will get the chance to buy exclusive textiles from internationally-renowned high fashion houses from today until Nov 14.

The ‘Exclusive European High Fashion Textile’ sale themed ‘Fashion Conscious with a Cause’, brought here by ICT Lifestyle, will be held at the Merdeka Palace Hotel. It will feature textiles from international designers like Elie Saab, Ungaro, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Emilio Pucci and Dolce Gabbana.

A sneak preview of the event was held yesterday at the Sarawak State Assembly building which was  officiated by Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, wife of Yang Dipertua Negeri Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Present were Mike Mohan, anchor merchant of several international fashion houses and Italian designers Grazia Mazzuccheli and Natalina De Vecchi.

ICT Commerce Sdn Bhd director Laveen Balaprabhakaran said part of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Sarawak Autistic Association to increase public awareness of autism.

He said there were 30,000 registered autistic children in the country and the cost of supporting an autistic child was RM 1,767 a month.

“We feel called upon to help parents of these autistic children to reduce their burden. Hopefully, this campaign will bring changes to this community,” Laveen said.
