KUCHING: A former police officer is among 55 persons on the police’s wanted list for various criminal, narcotics and commercial offenses.
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the former police officer, with the rank of Corporal, is still being hunted after alleged involvement in rape and sexual assault cases reported in 2009.
The suspect, identified as Juwanda Ranu Suut, is facing one count under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape and three counts under Section 354 of the Penal Code for sexual assault.
“Investigations revealed that the suspect had fled and measures have been taken at all entry points in Sarawak and Malaysia’s borders to locate the suspect. Until today, we are still actively looking for the suspect.
“Once investigation papers were opened, the suspect was dismissed from the police force in 2013,” he said at the district police headquarters (IPD).
Also on the wanted list are two men, identified as Flether Eddie and Yee Chee Fah, who are believed to be involved in a murder case reported at the Batu Kawa police station.
He added that both are suspected to have fled immediately after the murder or when the crime was reported.
Meanwhile, 12 other suspects are wanted for various crimes such as rape, domestic violence, voluntarily causing grievous hurt, vehicle theft, theft, insulting the modesty of a person, riot and more.
Aside from that, 20 suspects on the list are wanted for various scams, which are still active until now. The other 20 suspects on the list are wanted for various narcotics offenses.
In light of this, ACP Ahsmon requested the public’s cooperation to inform the police at the nearest police station if they have information regarding these wanted persons.
He pointed out that there is only one foreigner on the wanted list and the rest are all locals.
