KUCHING: Everrise reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) by donating essential household items to the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) to support underprivileged families in the Kuching South area.

Everrise chief executive officer Melody Chum presented the household items to MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng at the MBKS lobby today (Jan 9).

The initiative reflects the company’s dedication to community wellbeing and its role as a socially responsible corporate leader.

Wee expressed gratitude to Everrise for its ongoing generosity, particularly toward the residents of the KMC Flats.

“This isn’t their (Everrise’s) first contribution; they have supported us numerous times, especially during the Covid-19 period, and they continue to organise campaigns to distribute hampers and other essentials to those in need.”

He noted that while the donation aligns with the Chinese New Year celebrations, all residents, regardless of their background, are included.

“This contribution is for Chinese New Year, but the residents at KMC Flats are not all Chinese.

“That’s always been our approach, whether it’s Hari Raya, Gawai, or Chinese New Year, we ensure all residents, regardless of their background, are included.

“We want everyone to experience the festive spirit, even if it’s not their own celebration.”

Wee praised Everrise for setting a strong example of corporate social responsibility in Sarawak, urging other businesses to follow suit.

“Everrise has set a remarkable example for other businesses in Sarawak.

“Their willingness to step forward and support the less fortunate demonstrates their role as a socially responsible organisation that truly values the community it serves.

“It is collaborations like these that enable us to create a more compassionate, inclusive and resilient society.

“I urge other corporations to follow in their footsteps and work alongside MBKS to make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need.”

Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of partnerships between the public and private sectors in addressing social challenges.

“Public-private collaborations are essential in ensuring that we can effectively address the needs of our residents.

“MBKS is grateful for Everrise’s trust in our ability to distribute these items efficiently to the families who need them the most.

“Whenever Everrise makes a contribution, the council helps identify recipients and ensures proper distribution in the MBKS area.

“During festive seasons, it’s particularly important to make sure no one is left out.

“While everyone is celebrating, we want to ensure that every family can participate in some way and share the joy.”

For the record, through MBKS’ community programmes, the donated items will be distributed to ensure they benefit the most vulnerable members of society.
