KUCHING: Thegovernment must ensure that the 2022 State Budget rollout and implementation are well-understood and received by the people.
Federation of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions Chinese Associations president Datuk Richard Wee said while the objectives and goals of the state budget were well-intended, it would be an extra boost for the people if all these initiatives and processes were easy and simple for them to understand.
“Also, I hope the efficiency in the delivery system can be improved in the overall implementation, so that the rakyat will be able to receive the assistance and intention of our Sarawak government,” he said when contacted on Wednesday (Oct 13).
Commenting on the recently announced 2022 State Budget, he welcomed all the people-centric initiatives and policies, particularly in the current challenging times faced by the community, from both social and economic viewpoints.
“While the focus is mainly on the recovery strategies and assistance provided by the government with regard to the economy and public healthcare, the other main focal point is major rural infrastructural developments.
“The effort to bridge the gap between the urban and the rural is also one of the major thrusts in the budget.”
Wee noted that the 2022 State Budget was also pandemic-focused and involved post Covid-19 recovery initiatives, adding that this complemented the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 recently announced by the chief minister.
“The initiatives cover the different strata of society, different sectors of businesses and industries, and increases the coverage of the social safety net,” he said.
