KUCHING: The Padawan Foochow Association, in collaboration with the Sarawak Consumer Welfare Association (PKPS), organised an influenza vaccination programme aimed at enhancing community health through preventive measures.
The programme was officially launched by Kota Sentosa assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, who praised both associations for their proactive efforts in promoting health awareness and disease prevention.
“This initiative not only protects our health, but also reflects our collective responsibility in building a healthy and resilient community,” said Yap in his opening remarks.
He made these remarks while officiating at the Influenza Vaccination Programme held at Hon Ang Restaurant here yesterday.
Yap added that investing in preventive healthcare is key to cultivating a society that is capable of withstanding challenges and quick to seize new opportunities.

He also noted that the programme aligns with Sarawak’s long-term vision of becoming a united, prosperous and healthy state by the year 2030.
Yap encouraged both associations to continue championing community-driven initiatives, such as cultural festivals, educational workshops, and youth mentorship programmes.
“Such efforts are not only engaging, but they also strengthen community bonds, preserve our cultural heritage, and address the diverse needs of our society,” he added.
The vaccination initiative is expected to benefit members of both organisations while also reinforcing the spirit of volunteerism and community cooperation across the local area.
