BETONG: Members of the Women’s Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) at all levels are advised to remain active in engaging with the public in their respective areas to share government policies and deliver accurate information.
Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor said that this should be done while fostering close collaboration with community leaders, village chiefs (KMKK), Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) members, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
“The challenge of the technological era is the spread of false information, which can disrupt unity. This issue is very serious if not handled properly.
“Therefore, I hope that members of the Women’s Wing will remain active in engaging with the public in their areas.
“First, to maintain good relationships, and second, to share government policies and deliver accurate news,” she said.
She said this when met by reporters during the rehearsal session for the PBB Zone Betong Delegates Meeting at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Hall on Friday (Jan 24).
Dayang Noorazah, who is Supreme Council member of the Women’s Wing, also stressed that party members must always be sincere in carrying out their duties for the sake of the party, the state, and the nation.
In conjunction with the meeting, she urged everyone to focus on unity among ethnicities and religions.
“This is because the rise of racial issues on social media is very serious and can quickly become a ‘virus’ that influences the beliefs and mindset of the community.
“Secondly, focus on maintaining relationships and strong cooperation within the PBB family, from the grassroots level to the highest leadership, without allowing any incitement or actions that could weaken the party’s unity,” she said.
She stated that the meeting serves as a platform to strategise long-term political plans to ensure that PBB remains relevant and continues to be the core of Sarawak’s governance.
“This is a pivotal point in determining the direction of PBB and Sarawak as a whole.
“Party members must seize this opportunity to speak up, innovate, and strengthen the spirit of the struggle so that PBB remains the dominant party that brings progress and prosperity to Sarawak and its people,” she added.
