HO CHI MINH: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been inked between Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC) and the esteemed global technology giant FPT, marking a significant stride towards propelling the state towards becoming a paramount force in the regional digital economy landscape.

This landmark agreement underscores FPT’s prowess in delivering cutting-edge solutions within the public sector and its unwavering dedication to fostering innovation across the ASEAN region.

“As SDEC’s strategic technology ally, FPT is set to collaboratively craft and bring to market ingenious solutions and intellectual properties (IPs) customized to meet the unique digital terrain of Sarawak.

“The focal points of this collaboration encompass e-government, smart cities, healthcare, energy, and cybersecurity initiatives, all meticulously designed to fortify Sarawak’s digital framework and bolster its competitive edge.

“Drawing upon its profound expertise and extensive global network, FPT stands poised to bolster SDEC’s endeavours in nurturing Sarawak’s digital ecosystem through initiatives aimed at cultivating talent and incubating startups,” as highlighted in SDEC’s official statement.

In conjunction with local universities and technical colleges, FPT will orchestrate the development of specialized curricula, training schemes, and internships to equip professionals with indispensable competencies in software development, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.

“This collaborative approach, combined with SDEC’s indigenous insights, is anticipated to cultivate a dynamic workforce and invigorate Sarawak’s digital economy, thereby enabling FPT to solidify its local presence in the market further.

“Having operated in Malaysia for nearly two decades, FPT has earned its stripes as a trusted IT partner to a myriad of industry titans in the region.

“By amalgamating Sarawak’s pivotal role in steering Malaysia’s digital metamorphosis and economic advancement with FPT’s technical acumen and high-caliber IT workforce, we are poised to co-create revolutionary solutions driven by AI and next-generation technologies that address the pressing challenges faced by businesses not just in Malaysia but across the broader Southeast Asian expanse,” as articulated by SDEC.

SDEC emphasized that this strategic alliance mirrors Sarawak’s steadfast commitment to propelling the digital economy agenda, a pivotal facet of the region’s forthcoming economic evolution.

“Especially in harnessing technology to propel growth, enhance efficacy, and foster innovation, we are optimistic that this partnership will embolden both parties to deliver state-of-the-art solutions that not only align with but surpass the evolving requisites of our clientele and stakeholders,” SDEC expressed.

Having made its foray into Malaysia in 2006, FPT has burgeoned into a fully-fledged tech colossus with Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) status, a prestigious accolade conferred by the Malaysian government upon companies showcasing substantial contributions to the country’s digital economy.

With a dedicated pool of over 1,300 onsite and offshore professionals catering to the Malaysian market, FPT offers holistic digital solutions and consultancy services in AI, managed services, and Cloud to extend its expertise to pivotal sectors such as BFSI, energy and utilities, healthcare, and the public sector.

In alignment with its expansion blueprint, FPT wants to bolster its Malaysian workforce by 300 to 500 experts over the ensuing five years and establish a Global Delivery Center in Sarawak to meet the burgeoning client demand in East Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
