KUALA LUMPUR: The government is working on a strategic plan to foster entrepreneurship by collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, the private sector and chambers of commerce.

The objective is to equip local entrepreneurs with the skills and capabilities needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive business environment.

At the second 2024 meeting of the Council for the Development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi on Thursday, the empowerment of entrepreneurs was a key agenda item.

Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, representing the Sarawak government, highlighted the need for effective coordination between government agencies, associations, and chambers of commerce.

“This would ensure wider coverage of development programmes and projects, particularly in rural areas like Sarawak,” he said.

He also called on federal government agencies to expand their programmes and support for Sarawakian entrepreneurs, enabling them to enhance their knowledge and skills to further grow their businesses.
