KUCHING: Employers have been advised to consider utilising the claimable Human Resources Development Fund for skills trainings to ensure welfare and up-skilling of their employees.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Women chief Kho Teck Wan said this could ensure the welfare of the workers, even in the face of rising cost of doing business.
Apart from that, she said, offering flexible working hours and work from home options could reduce office expenses and many studies had shown that with proper management, the flexible hours did not reduce employee productivity.
Kho opined that the flexible hours could go a long way in providing new parents extended stay at home time with their new-born while continuing to work.
“Businesses or companies will be able to retain experienced workers while employees, especially female workers won’t face the risk of losing a job when planning a new family,” she said.
“As we celebrate Labour Day today, it is important to prioritise the welfare of all the workers, which can help to boost their productivity as well as their mental and physical wellness,” she said.
