EMCO for another longhouse

KUCHING: One longhouse in Sarikei district underwent the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that the EMCO will be enforced on Rumah Keli, Sungai Minus in Sarikei until June 7.

It also declared the extension of EMCO on Rumah Jugo Gait Sungai Petai in Sarikei district until May 26.

Meanwhile, a total of five longhouses ended their EMCO namely Rumah Jenggie, Lempa, Kabo in Betong; Rumah Chan, Minggat, Sungai Kesa and Rampai, Sungai Anyit, Selangan in Sarikei; Rumah Achan, Lubok Pancharan, Supi Baru Wak in Pakan; and Rumah Ikuok, Sungai Rayah, Bintangor in Meradong.

In addition, the committee also declared that eight other areas and longhouses will end their EMCO tomorrow (May 23) namely Kampung Hilir, Beladin and Rumah Bunsu, Tansang in Betong; Rumah Tatom, Nanga Tabau, Batang Oya, Stapang, Rumah Andin, Sungai Berjait, and Rumah Boniface Manggie, Ulu Ranan in Sibu; Bukit Dinding-Begerik in Mukah; Rumah Isa, Nanga Belansai, Sengaih in Julau; and Rumah Likik, Ulu Pedanum in Pakan.

On another note, the state now has a total of 80 active clusters where 13 recorded 52 additional new cases today.

As of today, the Asajaya district had turned to yellow from green after recording after recording a total of four local infection cases.

This brings 11 districts in the state as yellow zones, three as green zones, two orange zones, and 24 red zones.
