KUCHING: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has declared the end of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Kampung Batu Gong, Siburan in Serian district.

SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the committee has decided to end the EMCO at the village seeing as the second screening did not have any new Covid-19 positive cases.

“In addition, there is no evidence indicating that the Covid-19 infection is still contagious in the area. Hence, the committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all the relevant agencies and villagers for their cooperation during the EMCO period,” he said during a press conference on the daily Covid-19 update at the Old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here today (Apr 20).

Meanwhile, he said students in boarding schools and dormitories are not allowed to leave and return to their homes.

“They are advised to stay in their dormitories for their own safety as well as the safety of their family members,” he said.

He added that students are expected to stay in their respective dormitories during the 14-day closure of schools.

“Of course, the students are allowed to move around the school compound as long as they adhere to the given standard operating procedures,” he said.
