Embracing 2025: Premier calls for solidarity to drive progress

KUCHING: Sarawakians have been called to embrace the New Year with a renewed spirit, stronger resolutions, and greater ambitions to propel the state’s development to greater heights.

Reflecting on the achievements in 2024, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg lauded the collective efforts of the people which were instrumental in driving progress across various sectors.

“We are proud of the accomplishments achieved throughout the past year. These successes are the results of collaboration, unity, and the tireless efforts of all layers of society,” he said in his New Year message.

As Sarawak enters 2025, the Premier urged the people to remain steadfast in their commitment to transforming the state into a prosperous, harmonious, and inclusive state.

“With various development initiatives currently underway and planned, I am confident that Sarawak can progress through sustainable and enduring policies,” he said.

Abang Johari, who is also the Finance and New Economy Minister, further said that 2025 marks the final year of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), which has seen the successful implementation of various infrastructure projects.

“This includes roads, bridges, electricity and water supply, as well as socio-economic initiatives such as the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and social safety net programmes.

“I sincerely hope that efforts to implement the 12MP in Sarawak will be intensified so that all listed projects, particularly physical projects, can be completed for the benefit of the people,” he said.
