KAPIT: Elvis Didit has officially begun his role as the new Resident of Kapit, succeeding Galong Luang, who now holds the position of Resident for Miri Division.
The handover ceremony took place at the Kapit Resident’s Office yesterday.
In his brief address as Kapit Resident, Elvis emphasised his commitment to ensure the successful implementation of projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
He also highlighted the importance of teamwork, in line with the call by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki for state and federal civil servants to work together harmoniously as one team.
Elvis expressed his intention to engage all stakeholders, including community leaders and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), to better understand the priorities of the people in Kapit Division.
“I place great importance on the views and opinions of the people, as we, as civil servants, serve the public. The voice of the people is our priority,” he said.
Elvis, 57, hails from Sri Aman and previously served as the assistant head secretary in the Corporate Management Division of the Sarawak Ministry of Transport.
He began his career in the Sarawak civil service in 1994 as an administrative officer at the Land and Survey Department in Sri Aman.
With over 34 years of experience in the public service, he has gained extensive knowledge across various departments and agencies, including roles as administrative officer at the Sibu District Office, deputy resident in Limbang, and district officer in Kapit.
He has also previously served as deputy resident at the Sri Aman Resident’s Office.
Also present were Kapit Deputy Resident Robert Liman Deli, Bukit Mabong District Officer Jabang Juntan, Belaga District Officer Bidah Lujah, and senior officers from the Kapit Resident’s Office.
