MIRI: A fire involving the battery of an electric motorcycle caused minor damage to the vehicle at a residence on 4B Beach Road here, this morning (Dec 28).
The incident occurred around 10am, prompting an emergency call from the homeowner.
Firefighters from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the crew discovered that while the homeowner had attempted to extinguish the fire using a dry powder fire extinguisher, the motorcycle battery was still emitting smoke.
Firefighters quickly took action to fully extinguish the fire using tap water provided by the homeowner and safely disconnected the battery to prevent further risks.
The fire resulted in minor damage to the motorcycle.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
