Elderly worker dies in forklift accident

KUCHING: An elderly forklift driver was killed in a workplace accident at a factory in Pending Industrial Estate yesterday (Mar 15).

Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah in a statement, said that they were alerted to the incident around 4 pm.

Following that, a team from Bintawa police station, along with paramedics, was dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, they found the victim, a 70-year-old man, trapped between a pallet pile and the forklift blade, which had pierced his left chest.

“Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, and his body was sent to Sarawak General Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.

Mohd Farhan said the case has been classified as sudden death and urged the public not to speculate.
