BINTULU: A lorry driver sustained a broken right leg in an accident along Jalan Bintulu-Sibu yesterday (Jan 14).

The accident, which involved two lorries, happened around 5.40 pm near the Kampung Jepak junction.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firemen from Bintulu station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call.

They found one of the drivers pinned to his seat and the extrication deed was performed using special rescue tools.

The injured 60-year-old victim was later handed over to the paramedics for on-site treatment before being taken to the hospital for further attention.

Meanwhile, the other lorry driver was reportedly escaped injuries.
