SARIKEI: An elderly man succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment after his car crashed along Jalan Selalang yesterday (Mar 9).
Sarikei police chief Supt Aswandy Anis in a statement, said that the victim has been identified as 73-year-old Zaini Ahmad.
The accident occurred at around 6pm when the victim was driving his Perodua Myvi from Sarikei towards his house at Kampung Baru Selalang.
“Investigations indicate that his vehicle skidded out of control before veering off the road and plunging into a ditch.
“Zaini sustained chest and facial injuries and was rushed to Sarikei Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
