BALINGIAN: A 63-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a pick-up truck along KM6, Jalan Kuala Balingian yesterday (Dec 1).
Mukah police chief Elderly rider killed in collision with pick-up trucksaid the accident occurred at 12.07 pm and involved a pick-up truck carrying three men and a motorcycle ridden by the victim, identified as Hii Hing Siong.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s motorcycle, travelling from Balingian, suddenly swerved into the opposite lane and collided with the oncoming pick-up truck travelling from Tatau.
“Hii was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics due to severe chest and head injuries. His body was later taken to Mukah Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pick-up truck, aged 26, and his two passengers, aged 26 and 38, escaped unharmed.
Rizal added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
