MIRI: A 72-year-old man was reported missing after failing to return home from his farm near Kampung Tiris Bekenu on Monday (March 20).

A spokesperson for the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a call from the Bekenu police station informing that a missing man, identified as Salim Dris had failed to return home from his farm.

The firemen from Batu Niah fire station received a distress call at around 8 am.

“Six personnel from the Batu Niah fire station rushed to the location which is 43 kilometres away from the fire station to look for the elderly man in blue shirt and black shorts.

“He left the house to go to his farm at around 10 am on Monday and the firemen are currently still on the lookout for him,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The search and rescue (SAR) operation with the help of Civil Defence Force (APM), People’s Volunteers Corps Department (RELA), and police will continue today (March 24).
