KUCHING: An elderly man breathed his last after he suddenly collapsed in front of a building at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman here yesterday.

The incident was witnessed by passers-by who immediately alerted the authorities and at the same time performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the 78-year-old victim for about 10 minutes.

However, they could not revive the victim.

Kuching police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani, when contacted, a call on the incident was received around 11am and a team of police officers along with paramedics were deployed to the scene.

Paramedics confirmed that the victim had died at the scene and there was no sign of foul play.

The body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital for further action and the case has been classified as sudden death.
