Eight deaths including two brought in dead cases

KUCHING: Sarawak today (Oct 8) reported eight Covid-19 deaths comprising mostly of elderly people with comorbidities, including two brought-in dead (BID) cases.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) stated that two of the deaths occurred on Sept 28 while six others died between Oct 2 and Oct 6.

“Out of eight deaths, the oldest involved an 80-year-old woman from Kuching who passed away on Oct 5. Her body was brought in to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“The youngest death was of a 52-year-old man from Sarikei, who also died on Oct 5 at Sarikei Hospital. He had a history of diabetes and final stage kidney disease,” it said.

On Sept 28, there were two deaths involving a man from Bintulu age 66 and had passed away at Bintulu Hospital. Another death involved a woman from Sibu age 56 who passed away at Sibu Hospital.

Meanwhile, SDMC has enforced the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at 10 localities from three districts.

Among the localities are Rh. Anggang, Mejong, Skrang in Lubok Antu which will undergo the movement restriction from Oct 7 until Oct 16.

Rumah Nyalau at Nibong Asal, Rumah Temeling, Bintong at Batang Ai, Rumah Chunggat, Pulau at Skrang and Rumah Thomas, Plasok at Skrang, Rumah Jenging at Tanjung Meladin, Rumah Marawi at Gua Ming and Rumah Madei, Guntong at  Undop in Sri Aman, Rumah Mambang, Sungai Pasie, Ulu Buku and Rumah Jantan, Tebuk Awak in Pakan district, will undergo the EMCO from Oct 8 until Oct 17.

SDMC ended the EMCO at nine localities today – namely Rh. Balaki, Drau Ulu, Kaki Wong, Krian in Saratok and Rumah Rajak, Plassu, Sungai Padi, Batang Binjai in Kabong.

The other localities are Sarawak Slipways Sdn. Bhd., Lot 204, Kuala Baram Industrial Estate in Miri, Rumah Christina, Rembai, and Rumah Antau, Bunu Beging, Skrang in Lubok Antu; Rumah Brandah, Tanjung Riang In Sri Aman, Rumah Buni at Sungai Sentebu, Rumah Meringai, Sungai Kerubong at Selalang and Rumah Gerinching, Sungai Jagit in Sarikei.

Meanwhile the EMCO at Rumah Sengat, Batu 8 in Limbang has been extended from Oct 10 until Oct 16, while the movement restriction at Rh. Lana, Kampung Sepangah Medamit also in Limbang, is extended from Oct 11 until Oct 17.
