The EO brand by Edric Ong is at the forefront of Eco-Fashion and Slow Fashion, consciously collaborating with communities of weavers and crafts artists to create and market handmade designs. Based in Kuching, Edric Ong’s unique fashion combines a blend of ethnic and oriental elements with contemporary styles, showcasing innovative designs through the creative use of hand-woven silks and cottons.
He is a multi-awarded Malaysian designer known for his work with natural dye textiles, fashion, and crafts. He has won the UNESCO-ASEAN Crafts Seals of Excellence Japanese “G” mark awards by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO).
Edric Ong was named “Malaysian Designer of the Year 2009” at the Mercedes-Benz/Stylo Fashion Awards in Kuala Lumpur, “Global Influencer” in 2016, and Best Designer at the Atlas Bayrami Festival in Uzbekistan in 2022.
The Edric Ong Tempest Collection for Spring/Summer 2025 features his personally hand-painted silks and cottons dyed with wild fig fermentation, a natural dye he discovered in 2018. This tropical equivalent of “kakishibu” dye is used in creating art pieces made from Tussar hand-spun and hand-woven silk, as well as Thai organic cotton.
Handmade accessories and hats are also a signature style of Edric Ong. He collaborates with Malaysian master artists Michael Lim, Juliana Embrose, and Abot Gudang.
