Duo nabbed for performing motorcycle stunts

SIBU: Two men were arrested for performing dangerous motorcycle stunts on the road during the ‘Op Samseng Jalanan’ here last Friday.

The operation, conducted along Jalan Awang Ramli Amit, Jalan Teng Cheng Hwa and Sibu town centre, was held from 10 pm until 3 am.

Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili confirmed that the duo, aged 16 and 20, were arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1985 for riding their motorcycles dangerously.

Meanwhile on the operation, he said that a total of five motorcyclists were inspected and several offences and summonses were issued to motorists for various traffic offences during the operation.

“Among them are not having a driving license, structure modification, modified exhaust systems, no side mirrors, no number plates, and underaged riding.

“Two motorcycles were also confiscated during the operation for documentation purposes,” he said in a statement today (Oct 21).

Zulkipli urged everyone to obey traffic laws and reminded parents to keep an eye on their children and make sure they always abide by the rules.
