Duo nabbed for drug trafficking, drugs seized

MIRI: Narcotics police have arrested two local men for alleged involvement in drug trafficking activities at Miri Sentral Bus Terminal on Wednesday.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the team also seized 35.88g of methamphetamine and 1.64g of Erimin 5 pills worth RM4,010 from the suspects.

“The suspects, aged 34 and 41, have been remanded to facilitate investigations.

“The case is being investigated under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 12(2) of the same Act,” he said.

If convicted under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, the suspects can be sentenced to life imprisonment and caning.

Meanwhile, upon conviction under Section 12(2) of the same Act, the suspects can be fined up to RM100,000 or imprisoned for a term of up to five years, or both.

Alexson advised the community to report any information related to drug trafficking activities to the police.
