BINTANGOR: After a lengthy wait of nine years for Yong Jia Ping and six years for Michael Lai, their quest for Malaysian citizenship approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has reached a successful conclusion.
Yong submitted the application in 2015, followed by Lai in 2018, both of which have now been approved.
The presentation of the two Malaysian citizenship approval letters was handed over by Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing at the Meradong Service Centre on Friday (May 17).
According to Ding, without identification documents, it is extremely difficult to pursue higher education and find permanent employment after completing school.
Therefore, he expressed delight that Yong and Lai have finally received approval letters from KDN.
Additionally, he hopes that they will always appreciate the government’s efforts in obtaining their Malaysian citizenship status documents.
Meanwhile, the parents of Yong and Lai expressed their gratitude to Ding for assisting in their children’s applications and for making referrals without giving up hope to the National Registration Department (JPN).
