Duo get jail for not having papers

KUCHING: Two foreigners were jailed five months and ordered to get one stroke of the cane for not having proper travel and work documentation.

Angga Pranata Putra Tarigan Silangit, 26, and Januardi, 30, pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga today.

Angga did not have any valid travel document to enter Malaysia while Januardi’s social visit pass was found to have expired.

The two friends were arrested by police at a luxury condominium in Jalan Song around 10.30pm on Jan 31 last year.

Deputy prosecutors Danial Mohamad Ali and Tan Chuan Yi prosecuted while the accused were not represented by a lawyer.
