MIRI: Two men who went missing off Kuala Sibuti waters on Tuesday (Jan 15) night have been found yesterday.

The duo, identified as Awangku Azman Abd Razak, 51, and Mohammad Aman Riduan, 39, were found in their boat, anchored at 43 nautical miles off Kuala Sibuti waters by a vessel (Sealink Vanessa 10) yesterday morning at 11am.

Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency Miri chief Capt Mohd Fauzi Othman said, “Our men immediately rush to the location after being notified on the discovery and brought the duo to the Marina Bay jetty here.”

Prior to the incident, the duo set sail on Jan 15 to send foodstuffs to crew members of a vessel (MK4) at 66 nautical miles off Kuala Sibuti waters.

Their failure to return home after the trip caused their families to be concerned who later alerted the relevant authority.

“Their family members were not able to contact them, after the duo failed to return home,” said Mohd Fauzi.

He added that the boat the two were on, had suffered from engine failure which forced them to be stranded at the location where they were found.
