MIRI: Two local men suspected of robbing a civil servant in Kampung Lusut here two weeks ago were arrested by police yesterday.

Acting on information received, both men in their 30s, were detained by a police team from Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at two separate locations here.

The first suspect was picked up at Kampung Lusut at around 9.44am while the second suspect was detained at Taman Tunku at around 10.00am.

Besides the arrests, the police also confiscated a mobile phone belonging to the victim in his 30s and a motorcycle used by the suspects.

The suspects were detained at Miri Central Police Station for further investigation.

It was understood that at the time of the incident, the victim who was driving a Toyota Hilux was forced to stop the vehicle by two men riding a motorcycle.

The suspects were said to have taken the victim’s mobile phone and fled the scene with the latter’s 4WD.

However, the victim’s vehicle was recovered not far from the crime scene and a police report on the incident was lodged.
