Drug addict jailed for threatening sibling

KUCHING: A drug addict was sentenced to eight months in prison by the Magistrate’s Court for threatening to kill his younger brother.

Norhafis Ismawi, 38, from Kampung Tabuan Ulu, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Alwi.

The incident occurred on Aug 23 at a house in Kampung Tabuan Ulu.

During a verbal argument, Norhafis allegedly threatened to kill his brother, saying, “If you come back home, you will die.”

The brother, fearing for his safety, reported the incident to the police.

Norhafis was arrested the following day.

Investigations revealed his history of drug abuse and burglary.

A urine test found methamphetamine in his system.

Prosecuting Officer ASP Arman handled the case, while Norhafis appeared in court unrepresented.
