DARO: The body of 11-year-old Mohamad Amirul Dedy Susanto was discovered on Wednesday evening (July 22) after he was reported missing when he slipped and fell into the river at Kampung Hilir, Kuala Matu on Monday (July 20).
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that the victim’s body was found at 4.30pm about 3.5km from the victim’s last known location on the third day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation. SAR personnel conducted searches for the missing boy from the fishing wharf to Kuala Matu to the sea and around the beach.
The victim’s body was brought to shore to the family before being handed over to the police for further actions.
On Monday at about 4.52pm, the victim slipped and fell into the river while fishing with his friend, Ainul.
It was reported that they were fishing from a tugboat berthed at the riverbank when the incident occurred.
