Driver sustains leg injuries in late night collision

BINTULU: A lorry driver sustained leg injuries after his three-tonne lorry rear-ended with a trailer lorry at Mile 10, Jalan Bintulu-Miri, Pan Borneo Highway on Saturday.

Firefighters from Bintulu station was dispatched to the scene, about 15km away, after receiving an emergency call at 11.41 pm.

Upon arrival, they found the 34-year-old driver’s legs were stuck in his seat and extrication efforts were carried out using special tools.

The victim was handed over to paramedics for on-site treatment before being taken to the hospital for further medical attention.

Flushing works were also conducted to clear the debris from the road to ensure that it is safe for other road users.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 12.35 am.
