SELANGAU: A pick-up truck driver sustained injuries following a collision with an oil palm transport lorry along Jalan Bintulu-Selangua yesterday (Jan 8).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Selangau station were dispatched to the scene, about 20km away, after receiving a distress call at 11.15 am.

Upon arrival, they found the pick-up driver still inside the wrecked vehicle with his leg stuck due to the impact of the crash.

Extrication works were carried out using rescue tools, and the injured victim was handed over to the Civil Defence Force (APM) ambulance for transport to the health clinic.

His identity and extent of his injuries were not known.

The team also conducted flushing works to ensure that the road is safe for other users.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 12.12 pm.
