Driver held for illegally transporting diesel

The pickup carrying several barrels of diesel without valid documents has been held by Kuching Marine police.

KUCHING: Marine police here managed to thwart an attempt to transport several barrels of diesel without valid documents using a pickup truck yesterday.

According to the Sarawak Marine Police Region 5, an intelligence unit from the Kuching Marine headquarters had spotted a suspicious 4WD around the city and stopped it for inspections.

“The vehicle driven by a local man, was stopped and inspections found a load of barrels containing diesel in its cargo bed.

“In addition, the driver failed to produce any documented evidence of permission to possess, store, carry controlled items without a permit or a licence from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

As a result, the driver is said to have committed an offence under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

All the seized items and arrest were handed over to KPDNHEP Kuching investigating officer for further investigation.
