SIBU: A driver managed to escape a fiery death after his car burst into flames along Jalan Kwong Ann Crescent here last night (Apr 15).
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident happened around 8.10pm in front of a primary school.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported, as the driver managed to get to safety before the situation worsened.
Firemen from Sungai Merah station who were deployed to the scene managed to bring the fire under control and prevent the car from being completely destroyed.
The car sustained significant damages, with 40 per cent of its front part destroyed in the flames.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team wrapped up the operation at 8.25pm.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
