MIRI: Miri Hospital today (Jan 4) officially launched its drive-thru pharmacy to enable social distancing in line with Covid-19 precautions.
The facility enables patients and customers to collect their medicines without stepping out of their cars.
The move is as part of the hospital’s series of measures to improve customers’ convenience and safety, in the wake of the social distancing and hygiene regulation mandated by the Ministry of Health Malaysia due to the Covid 19 pandemic besides resolving inadequate parking spaces at the health facility.
Present at the launch was Sarawak deputy health director (Pharmacy) Abu Hassan Alshaari Abd Jabar.
The facility is the fifth in the state, with another one in Bintulu on its way.
A proposal has been submitted for a similar facility to be set up in Tudan Clinic.
“We are fully aware that such health service (drive-thru pharmacy) is needed at Tudan Health Clinic to resolve problems encountered by patients during their medicine collection,” said Abu Hassan after the launch.
The Miri Hospital’s drive-thru pharmacy opens from 8.30am to 4.30pm every day except weekends and public holidays.
The drive-thru pharmacy service was first launched at Sibu Hospital on December 3 in 2019, followed by Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on April 22 last year in Kozi Square Mall and later at Kota Samarahan Health Clinic on June 3 last year.
