KUCHING: DRB-HICOM Berhad (DRB-HICOM) has introduced the “DRB-HICOM Charity Right Feed-To-Educate Programme,” a corporate responsibility initiative designed to offer food assistance to underprivileged students from two schools here.

This programme is part of a broader effort to support families, ensuring their children have the resources to pursue their education.

A total of 100 students from SK Batu Lintang and SK Siol Kanan will receive monthly food boxes, valued at RM200 each, to support their families throughout the year.

DRB-HICOM chief communication officer Cairil Irwan Amir highlighted, during the launching of the programme at SK Siol Kanan on Nov 15, the company’s focus on promoting better education within its corporate responsibility framework.

Additionally, he said that participation in the programme requires parents or guardians of the children to have regular meetings with the school as an initiative to support the students’ educational journey to boost their and their families’ nutritional needs, while promoting good school attendance towards a better academic achievement.

“The DRB-HICOM Charity Right Feed-To-Educate Programme aims to provide nutritional support and closely monitor each student’s attendance, academic progress and health status.

“By involving parents and guardians, our goal is to encourage these students to gain better education by further improving their attendance at school.”

This programme reflects DRB-HICOM’s dedication to supporting local communities through education.

“This programme does not merely involve the distribution of food boxes by DRB-HICOM.

“It also involves our subsidiaries – Bank Muamalat, through a motivational talk on financial literacy and scam awareness, while PROTON gives the students a glimpse of recent technological advancements.

“We are hopeful that these sessions will help strengthen their financial literacy and further inspire students to pursue knowledge.”

The launch was attended by Sariah Mos, chief assistant senior director of the School Management Sector, Sarawak State Education Department; Zafina Khuzaimah, head of Fund Management at Charity Right; Luqman Hakim, project manager at Charity Right; Maimunah Ba’ee, headmistress of SK Siol Kanan; Wan Hanin Wan Omar, a teacher representing SK Batu Lintang; along with representatives from PROTON, Bank Muamalat Kuching Branch, and parents and students from both schools.
