PADAWAN: Datuk Dr Jerip Susil recently conducted a working visit to inspect the landslide site at SK Puruh Karu here.

During his visit, he assessed the condition of the school affected by the landslide and discussed safety measures for the students.

Following the inspection, the Deputy Minister for Transport stated that SK Puruh Karu has been declared unsafe for learning sessions by the Public Works Department (JKR).

As a result, he proposed relocating the 73 affected students to the church’s parish hall in Kampung Emperoh Karu temporarily, while they await the completion of SK Taba Sait, where they will continue their schooling.

The relocation is expected to commence no later than the beginning of the 2024 school session.

Dr Jerip, who is also the Mambong assemblyman, stressed his commitment to requesting an allocation under Projek Rakyat for the construction of a new SK Puruh Karu, with an estimated cost of RM80mil.

He highlighted the need to relocate SK Puruh Karu to a proposed new site near the Padawan Sub-District Office and Braang Bayur Health Clinic.
