Dr Hazland welcomes thousands to annual Raya open house

KUCHING: More than 5,000 people turned up for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Hipni at the Kasuma Resort Clubhouse today (Apr 5).

The annual gathering has become a key festive tradition for both Hazland and the local community, drawing guests from all walks of life to celebrate the occasion together.

“I’ve been hosting this open house since I lived here, even before I became the people’s representative,

“Each year, the number of guests keeps increasing. Last year, we welcomed over 3,000 people, and this year, it could be more than 5,000,” he said when met here today.

Among the prominent figures present were Deputy PremierDatuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, SUPP Kota Sentosa chairman Wilfred Yap, and Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations (SFCA) president Datuk Richard Wee.

This year’s open house featured 14 food stalls serving a wide range of traditional Hari Raya favourites, including satay, lemang, ketupat, laksa, and rendang.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, a local band performed traditional Hari Raya songs, filling the air with festive tunes and further enhancing the sense of celebration.

In addition to the food and entertainment, Hazland also distributed duit raya to children and residents from his constituency, a gesture that added to the celebratory atmosphere and reflected the spirit of generosity associated with Hari Raya.
