KUCHING: The appointment of Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi as Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall, and Islamic Affairs) is a recognition of his credibility, talent, and hard work in driving renewal and modernisation in this region.
His appointment was announced yesterday by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, following the swearing-in ceremony held at Astana Negeri Sarawak.
Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) mayor Datuk Hilmy Othman described the appointment as highly appropriate and strategic, given Dr Abdul Rahman’s extensive experience and expertise.
“Since I became mayor in September 2023, The Honourable Datuk has provided many insights and directives that have significantly transformed the city, in line with the leadership of the Sarawak government,” he said through a press statement 0n Tuesday (March 18).
He strongly believes that this appointment will introduce a new narrative in shaping the holistic development of the region, both in worldly aspects and spiritual growth, aligning with the new portfolio entrusted to Dr Abdul Rahman.
“With the new portfolio as Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies), I believe that his efforts will further contribute to the development of DBKU specifically, and the region as a whole.
“We are greatly honoured by this appointment, which will undoubtedly bring positive change and continue to drive the development of Kuching North towards greater dynamism and progress.
