MIRI: No matter how small or remote a community is, it falls on the Sarawak government development radar, assured Utilities Minister Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.
He added the government under GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) would make sure no community was left behind in its development agenda.
Speaking at the Persatuan Bisaya Sarawak Miri branch (PBSM) dinner held at a leading hotel here on Saturday night, Rundi urged the community to stand behind Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
His text of speech was read by Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.
Rundi also called on other communities to emulate the positive attitudes of the Bisaya community.
“Despites being a minority ethnic in Sarawak, the Bisayas have been actively involved in organising various activities including the ‘Pesta Babulang’ and buffalo race which have contributed positively to our tourism industry,” he pointed out.
Also present was Bisaya Sarawak Association president Datuk Antonio Kahti Galis.
At the event, Rundi announced a RM10,000 state government grant to Persatuan Bisaya Sarawak Miri branch (PBSM).
