KUCHING: ‘One pint can save three lives’, is a vital saying when encouraging the public to donate blood.

However, Hope Church Kuching and Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) were able to collect 52 pints and saving 156 lives.

The Good Samaritan Ministry (GSM) from Hope Church Kuching organised a blood donation drive together with SGH aiming to reach 50 donors at Hope Church Kuching today.

The head of GSM, William Law expressed his joy in consistently organising these blood drives whenever possible to serve the community.

“Since 2008, we would organise blood drives three to four times a year or anytime SGH is available, where anybody can come to donate blood,” he said.

Law explained that the motivation behind organising this annual blood drive stems from the theme of the ministry—‘Giving Hope, Touching Lives.’

“Besides the church sharing the gospel, we also want to be relevant and do our best to contribute to society,” he explained.

According to Law, donating blood is a healthy culture and it’s also a sign of a healthy person.

“If someone can donate blood, this means they’re healthy, which is a culture we should look forward to as humans,” he said.

He added Hope Church Kuching has successfully donated about 2,000 pints of blood. over the past decade.

“Most of the time three-quarters of the people who try to donate blood are successful and we usually hit the amount of blood pints needed by SGH,” he said.

Furthermore, the GSM will continue to organise blood drives whenever possible.

“We will be having another blood donation drive together with SGH somewhere in November where the public can check out and join us then,
