KUCHING: The SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd (SEDCE) exchanged landmark documents with its partners for the development of hydrogen related projects during the Borneo Energy Transition Conference (BETC2024) on Monday.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg witnessed the event at the Riverside Majestic Hotel here.
Clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) through its subsidiary Gentari Hydrogen Sdn Bhd, has signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with SEDCE, a subsidiary of the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), for the joint development of a centralised hydrogen production hub in Bintulu, to be known as the Sarawak H2Hub.
The H2Hub aims to be the sole supplier of clean hydrogen for any downstream facilities in Sarawak, with the hydrogen hub concept in the H2 Hub being separated between upstream (H2 production) and downstream (for H2 derivatives).
This illustrates the Hub being able to cater to multiple investors with the ‘plug and play’ concept for investors’ respective electrolyser modules only and other facilities. The Hub is managed, operated and maintained by SEDCE and Gentari.
Meanwhile, the second document exchange was for the Joint Development Agreement (JDA) between SEDCE with Samsung Engineering, Lotte Chemical and Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC).
Through this partnership, the companies will collaborate on innovative projects and initiatives to advance sustainable energy solutions in the region.
The last document exchange was between SEDCE and Sarawak Metro for the development of Rembus H2 Plant in support of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project.
With this agreement, SEDCE will be responsible for developing, constructing, commissioning, operating and maintaining the hydrogen production plant and the refueling station.
The Rembus H2 Plant and Refueling facility is for producing, supplying, refueling and distributing hydrogen and related products and materials for the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system.
