MIRI: The public here have been told not to fear the armed soldiers who are assisting the police to inspect premises during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period.

“There should be no reason for you to fear them if you have done nothing wrong and are abiding to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid down by the government to avoid the spread of Covid-19 virus,” said Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.

He was speaking to a group of local media personnel on Thursday (Aug 6) after a dialogue session with the Coffeeshop and Hawker Association here at Miri Police Headquarters (IPD).

“Please comply with the SOPs enforced by the government to ensure that the Covid-19 virus is not spread,” he said.

Starting from August 1 this year, Malaysia has implemented mandatory mask-wearing in crowded places to stem the tide of Covid-19 infections.

Under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act, those who do not comply with the new rule face a fine of up to RM1,000.
